The full year of 2025 generated $313 billion in RWA perpetual futures volume. Q1 2026 nearly doubled it. And most of crypto was looking elsewhere.
The Growth Sequence That Changes the Story
Q1 2025: $29.74 billion. Q2: $67 billion. Q3: $77 billion. Q4: $138 billion. Then Q1 2026: $524 billion.
Each quarter was growth. The move from Q4 to Q1 was something else. That is what happens when infrastructure matures past a threshold, institutional liquidity arrives, and a market stops being experimental and starts being used.
Hyperliquid’s HIP-3 contract went from $12.6 billion in Q4 2025 to $131 billion in Q1 2026 alone. One platform. One quarter. The on-chain order book now runs at sub-second execution. The performance gap with centralized exchanges has closed.
